Questar Visit Day - January 10
Next month, all sophomores and juniors will have an opportunity to visit Questar III to learn more about their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Below is a brief description about CTE and links to all of their individual programs. You will also find a quick google survey where your student can sign up to visit two CTE programs in January, this information needs to be submitted by Dec 6th. in order for them to participate.
Questar III’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs provide students in 11th and 12th grades with the academic and technical skills necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. Our CTE programs are based out of Donald R. Kline Technical School in Hudson, where we generally serve students in Columbia & Greene Counties. In this rapidly evolving technical age, our students need to leave school prepared to be successful in further education and to compete for the jobs of tomorrow. This means not only equipping students with the right skills and abilities, but also fostering creative problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. CTE half-day programs are a great way for students to prepare for the future. Explore all our Career Tech, Career Studies and New Visions programs through our course catalog.
Foundational to all CTE programs are rigorous program standards and content standards that offer high school students the opportunity to learn career skills while earning a Regents diploma. CTE programs provide students the opportunity to explore a career interest and develop specialized skills through hands-on learning and integrated academics. Students are actively engaged in obtaining the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to succeed in college and the workplace.

New Visions Visit Day - December 12
On Dec 12th, representatives from Questar's New Visions programs will be here to introduce current juniors to the programs and opportunities that are available as seniors next year. These are competitive college level programs that are limited so students that are interested will need to complete an application and interviews process to be chosen. Below is a description of the programs, please let Mr. L know if you would like to attend this opportunity by Nov 26th.
New Visions students gain valuable insight into career options from a real-world perspective. A 1-year, honors-level program, New Visions turns area businesses, healthcare facilities, and government buildings into classrooms for highly motivated, academically successful high school seniors.
For 3.5 hours each day, New Visions students learn and explore through mentoring, internships, interactions with professionals, group discussion, and creative projects, as well as more traditional methods. New Visions students earn four academic credits including one credit each for English and social studies and two electives credits. They also may earn college credit, and the program is a proven asset on transcripts and college applications.
