The IB Mission
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the IB works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB Diploma Program is a rigorous and comprehensive program of study that requires students to complete coursework in each of six core subject groups:
Language A (English)
Language B (a foreign language, either Spanish or Latin)
History of the Americas
Science
Mathematics
Arts
In addition, all students seeking a full IB Diploma must fulfill three other core requirements:
a Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, which is interdisciplinary and promotes student understanding of ways they learn
a student-selected topic and an assigned faculty advisor for completion of a comprehensive research paper called the Extended Essay
3) a service requirement called Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS).
All IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.
